Wanted to make sure I had a good deal of Junior related news to talk about for this one.
Kiriyama Akito has gotten a Tackey-bump as by recommendation of Takizawa Hideaki he will be co-starring with his senior in Tackey's upcoming NHK-BS Premium drama, Mayonaka no Panya-san. The drama will start airing in April of 2013 and will run for eight episodes.
JE News Daily (English)
I am so happy for Akito. He has been getting quite a few drama roles for a Kansai Junior and seems to be the "actor" of the group. And it is nice that this will be a national drama.
Not sure about how much attention it will get being on a premium channel and Tackey no longer being the big draw to dramas he once was but it is still a good opportunity for him and he will hopefully pick up some more fans with this.

The Kansai Junior National Tour is actually national this time. Usually they just remain in the Kansai region but this time around they do have dates for other parts of the country. The Kansai Juniors listed for these concerts are B.A.D., 7WEST, Kin Kan, Naniwa Oji and Hamada Takahiro.
Concert places and dates:
4/14 Hiroshima
5/4 Sapporo
5/12 Ishikawa
5/19 Fukuoka
6/9 Nagoya
6/23 Miyagi
6/30 Tokushima
7/6 Tokyo
7/7 Tokyo
My personal hope is that this is another sign that B.A.D., 7WEST and Hamada may be edging closer to debuting, most likely in a created unit with them all. And Kin Kan and Naniwa Oji are being pushed so they can help fill the gap for the Kansai Juniors that will be created when those others debut.

Kamenashi Kazuya has Juniors in his latest AOKI suits CM. The Juniors in the CM are Hagiya Keigo, Iwamoto Hikaru, Morita Myuto, Fukasawa Tatsuya and Abe Ryohei. The Official Home Page has images of the Juniors in their suits as well as the CM and a making of clip for it as well.
I am rather happy for the boys though I do not follow any of them that much. But with Snow Man more or less gone it is nice to see some of the guys from that group keep getting work. Myuto has been with Johnny's for so long it is nice seeing him get some breaks and I have liked Hagiya since Hip Hop Jump, not enough to really follow him but enough to feel happy when he gets a break like this.

Johnny's World part deux
From unofficial sources it seems like it was announced that Johnny's World will return at the end of the current year. Honestly I am not surprised as I had a feeling that this would happen when the show was first announced. Very rarely does Johnny Kitagawa introduce a new stage and just do it once, and I doubt that this show, which seems to be what he wants to be his magnum opus be a one time deal. Especially not with his talk of wanting to bring it overseas.
While no cast has been confirmed I am sure we will get the same groups, Hey! Say! JUMP, A.B.C-Z and Sexy Zone to be in it.
From what I have seen of the performances from the Shounen Club performances of them and from the Johnny's World documentary that was streaming on the net recently, the show seems to be a mess. Almost all flash and spectacle with not much of a coherent story to tie it all together well. So my only hope would be that the story gets some work for it to make a bit more sense. But then again it is a Johnny's musical and they really are not known for their great stories.
Outside of that as long as HSJ release a couple of CDs between the end of this Johnny's World run and the next I will be happy enough. From what I have heard there is at least one HSJ song from the musical that sounds to be at least B-side worthy for a new single and when they go on the 2013 year end music programs I would like to see them perform a new song instead of having to fall back on Super Delicate again. Because that would be beyond sad.

Kanjuu go Samurai
It was announced at the Kansai Junior Christmas Concert on December 25th that the Kanjuu will be starring in their own movie, titled Kansai Johnny’s Jr. no Kyoto Uzumasa Koshinkyoku!, that will be released in theaters in Japan on March 30th. The two main leads will be played by Kiriyama Akito and Shigeoka Daiki with Kanjuu, Nakama Junta, Hamanaka Bunichi, Fujii Ryusei, Kotaki Nozomu, and Mukai Koji also being in the cast.
The Kanjuu will do the theme song, NOT FINALE, for the movie and plan out the choreography for it.
JE News Daily article (English)
This announcement has me so happy. Things really feel like they are looking good for the Kanjuu. Sure they still do not get all the chances and breaks that their Tokyo counterparts do but you can hardly say getting their own movie is all that shabby. Especially when there is also a Tokyo concert coming up for them as well.
I hope that the theme song they will do will get released as a single. I think if the Tokyo Juniors can get all kinds of one off singles and temporary groups that get to release something the Kanjuu should be able to get the same chance. Not to mention if Johnny's wants to gauge the selling potential of the Kanjuu, or at least this group of them, it would be a great way to do so.
Like always I hope this is something that will lead to a debut of a Kanjuu group. Right now I just really want B.A.D. to debut in a group, especially Kiriyama as he has really begun to impress me recently with his interactions with the other Kanjuu. I have always though him to be talented with his singing, though in the past in need to knowing to dial it back a bit as he had the habit of overpowering everyone else.
EDIT: Speaking of that Tokyo concert, it has become concerts as there are now three concerts scheduled for the Kanjuu to do on January 1st, the first at noon followed by one at 3pm and the final at 6pm.

Fresh Junior Concert 15 December Set List
Well in the end there was nothing announced at this concert after all. I guess I have just gotten to used to concerts being used as a way to get media attention that I cannot help but see each one as potentially having a nugget of news with it.
That aside the concerts sounded like fun and really could have been Bakaleya6 & noon boyz featuring Johnny's Junior by looking at the concert reports popping up about them.

* In the reports the name is simple listed as カウアン but googling for that name with Johnny's only brings up one name, Okamoto Kauan, who is a 16 year old who was a model for the Sophia Model International company, you can see his profile here. There is also mention that he is a Nagoya Junior, which I am coming to think is just a place that Johnny's sometimes does auditions for and Kauan and Hirano both came from them. I can only hope that Kauan starts being shown on Shounen Club so it can be 100% confirmed Okamoto Kauan is him. Of course it should not be too hard to do so as I found videos of him on youtube (that are dated as rather recent, you can just search for his name to find them) of him singing and dancing so being able to match his face should not be that hard.

Kanjuu in Tokyo for New Year's
The Kansai Juniors will be having their first ever concert in Tokyo on New Year's Day. It will be at Tokyo Dome City Hall with the concert scheduled to begin at 1PM.
The Kanjuu listed to be participating are; Kiriyama Akito, Nakama Junta, Shigeoka Daiki, Hamada Takahiro, Kotaki Nozamu, Fujii Ryusei, Mukai Koji, Kaneuchi Toma, Nishihata Daigo, Nagase Ren and Onishi Ryusei.
This has been announced on Johnny's net.
I am really happy for the Kanjuu to get this chance. I am sure their Kanto fans are excited as it may be the only chance they have to see them in concert as most of the time they stick to the Kansai region.
I also cannot help but think this is a part of a push to see about debuting a new Kansai group in the near future. The ones listed are either those that have been part of the pushes the Kanjuu have been getting in recent years or the new groups, Kin Kan and Naniwa Oji who seem to be the ones that are getting set to be the future of the Kanjuu.
I so hope I am right as now with Kanjani8's anniversary year over it would be a good time to have another Kanjuu group debut. And there are plenty of older and experienced Kanjuu that should be debuted, especially with so many of the recent debut being nothing but Tokyo Juniors.

Junior News Round-Up 003
Not a lot of news to pass on but I have delayed this post long enough. Hopefully the next one will have more to report.
Nozawa Yuki will get another chance at acting by being a part of the cast of an episode of TV Tokyo's Wednesday Mystery 9, a weekly mystery series that airs on Wednesdays at 9PM. The episode he will be in will air on December 12th.
TV Tokyo site (Japanese)
Nakama Junta from B.A.D. will be in a Nagoya local channel, Meetere, special program that will air on December 17th. The program is in celebration of the stations 50th anniversary and will use the theme of trains. It will also have other celebrities in it, like SKE48's Matsui Rena.
Meetere OHP (Japanese)
Also the Fresh Junior concert in Yokohama Arena has added another show. It will now be two shows on December 16th, the first starting at noon and the second at 4PM.

The Junior Concerts are Coming
Two concerts featuring the Juniors have been announced, one for the Tokyo Juniors and the other for the Kansai Juniors. Information about both came be found on Johnny's net.
The Kansai Junior concert will be held November 23rd in Osaka and the ORIX Theater. It will headline Nakayama Yuma and has the Kansai Juniors Kiriyama Akito, Nakama Junta, Shigeoka Daiki, Kamiyama Tomohiro, Kotaki Nozomu and Fujii Ryusei listed by name under his. And of course it mentions that there will be other Kansai Juniors participating.
The other concert will be on December 16th at Yokohama Arena and from the title is to feature the Fresh Juniors, or the newer Juniors.
It is nice to see Yuma back with other Kanjuu, especially past group members. It is a bit odd to just have it randomly in November as the Kanjuu normally have Christmas concerts that he could have done with them, so I wonder if there might be a bit more to this concert. Though that is just me being hopeful, as I really would love to have something big happen for the Kanjuu soon.
The last time they had concerts featuring the Fresh Juniors was back in 2009 when they came out with Nakayama Yuma w/B.I.Shadow and NYC boys, so I am very curious what Johnny's has planned for this concert. Especially since they are using the Yokohama Arena, compared to a hall where the 2009 concerts took place. I mean it was at the Yokohama Arena that Hey! Say! JUMP and Kis-My-Ft2 had their debut announcements. I do not think we will get a debut announcement but there is a presidence about this venue that something should happen/be announced at this concert.
I hope that at least we will get a new group or two formed for the concert, maybe a special temp unit. I cannot think of a group that I would like to see debuted so soon, as it would really be only Bakaleya6 and noonboyz, maybe Snow Man, to go from but none of the members in those groups are Fresh Juniors. And as much as I love B6 I would rather have them wait a while before debut as there are some things they need to iron out for a group before I would consider them debut ready.
In any case I know I will be excitedly awaiting any news from these concerts.

Some Johnny's Countdown 2011-2012 thoughts
Well I woke up around 3AM-ish to watch Kohaku and then of course Johnny's Countdown 2011-2012 earlier today. It's strange to think it's been 2012 somewhere in the world for about 12 hours now when there is still quite a bit of time before the clock strikes midnight where I am. But I find watching these programs are a great way to start the last day of the year.
Focusing on JCD this year seemed so much more energetic and fun than last year. The whole atmosphere to me really felt the guys were having just as much fun as the audience for the short concert. And it seems like Yamada Ryosuke and Chinen Yuri were taken over to Tokyo Dome sometime during Kohaku so they did not have the late entrance that TOKIO did, and of course were no where to be seen near the end of Kohaku either.
I'm just going to briefly touch upon some things that I liked about the concert or stood out to me.
First off, we have another indication that Sexy Zone is indeed here to stay as they had a VTR performance of their debut song played early on, something that Hey! Say! JUMP also had the year they debuted. And I was really happy to see HSJ in the seats SZ had to watch the show. I think it's rather perfect for one FIVB group to be there for another.
The Juniors! And not just the Tokyo Juniors but Kansai Juniors as well at the Tokyo Dome and getting more attention than I've ever seen for Juniors at any JCD. It seems like Noon Boyz might actually be a group for Sanada Yuma and Nozawa Yuki seeing as that's what they were introduced as. Also what was interesting was that Uchi Hiroki seemed to be introduced just as a member of Question? more than a Junior on his own. And it seemed so amazing that B.A.D., Hamada Takahiro, Shigeoka Daiki and Veteran were there at the Tokyo Dome and even got some spotlight as well. Of course the Gokusen fangirl in me was ecstatic to see B.A.D. next to Takaki Yuya for at least one song during the shuffle group portion. And it was nice to finally see all five members of A.B.C-Z being able to perform with Tackey & Tsubasa this year.
It was also nice to see all of HSJ on stage, even though the only reason it was possible for them to do so was because they lost their youngest member who would have sat with SZ if he was still with the group. But I loved that we had more HSJ this year and that there seemed to be more interaction between them and their senpai groups. One of the personally highlights with HSJ, besides the one already mentioned as Masuoka Masahiro making Inoo Kei sing along when TOKIO was supposed to be covering a song.
Speaking of TOKIO while I was at first disappointed that they were not around for the actual countdown to midnight when they did enter I was perfectly fine with it. I mean it's hard to beat an entrance in faux-blimps. Though I do wonder who got fur crazy when making Yamaguchi Tatsuya's costume for this.
And of course bringing up costumes immediately brings Kanjani8 to mind. It's going to take a while to get the image of Nishikido Ryo dressed as a girl out of my mind. And I loved Yokoyama Yu as the mixer/blender for the vegetables, aka the other group members. I think I've gotten used to the split for the groups as I didn't mind it too much this year.
I loved seeing Kis-My-Ft2 being able to be on stage finally as debuted artists. Especially as they had a member from Hikaru Genji, the original roller skating Johnny's group, Sato Atsuhiro, to join them for a song. And by pure luck of being 24 in this coming year Miyata Toshiya got a moment to shine and show everyone the wonderful dork he is.
Of course I was really excited about all the daisenpai at this year's JCD. I think it's definitely because 2012 will be Johnny's 50th anniversary and I thought it was great for them to have their older acts makes appearances. It did seem like Okamoto Keito was used a bit as a stand in for his father as he got to play guitar for when they covered an Otokogumi song. I won't complain as it meant more Keito, who the cameraman seemed to love. And nothing beats being able to see Shounentai perform together, or almost together with Nishikiori Kazukiyo being at the theater Tackey & Tsubasa were at.
Of course the greatest highlight for the concert for me was seeing the new NEWS perform together. I'm rather glad both Ryo and Yamashita Tomohisa were not at the Tokyo Dome as it really helped solidify that the four remaining members are the group now to me. And I love that they made sure to find NEWS fans in the audience to pan to, as to help signify that this was truly a special moment for the group as they perform as four for the first time in front of a crowd. And I was so happy that Koyama Keiichiro said one of the group's goals for the new year was to of course have concerts. Even if I can't make any just knowing that they are performing as NEWS will make me so happy.
So in the end this JCD was great for me. Everyone seemed to be in great spirits and I got to see so many of my favorites and there was fun interactions. Even though the amount of live feeds can sometimes feel like it isn't as unified as it once was I think they are finally figuring out how to balance it better.
Next year should be interesting with A.B.C-Z being a debuted group then, Nakajima Kento being old enough to participate as well as Nakayama Yuma. And of course any surprises Johnny's wants to throw in there. I'll definitely make sure I can catch a lives stream of it next year.

Kis-My-Ft2 Tokyo Dome concert
It has been announced that Kis-My-Ft2 will be having a concert at the Tokyo Dome on August 28th.
Johnny's net. (Japanese only.)
I'm so proud of them. Performing in the Tokyo Dome is a big feat and it shows that Johnny's has enough faith in them for being able to fill such a large venue. And I can only imagine how the boys will feel being able to be the main performers there instead of back dancers finally. I really wish I could be there with them for this big step in their careers.
I also can't believe it's less then two weeks before their debut single is released. It seems like a dream.

Kansai Junior X'Mas Concert 2010 + other Junior news
Johnny's net has updated with concert information for a series of Christmas concerts with the Kansai Juniors. The concerts will begin on December 4th and the final concert will be on Christmas day.
The concerts are set up so that different Kansai Juniors will be the focus of different concerts, alternating between 7WEST and B.B.V. (B.A.D. + BOYS + Veteran).
Also a bit of news for the Junior group Mis Snow Man, if anyone has seen the PV for the upcoming Tackey & Tsubasa single, Ai wa Takaramono, then like me you've probably noticed that a certain Junior group is in it as back dancers. So congrats to them for making their PV debut, even if it isn't for them.

Tokyo Juniors Vs. Kansai Juniors
Johnny's net has updated with information about a Junior concert event at NHK Hall on Novmeber 27th. It seems Johnny's is willing to spend some money on the Kansai Juniors and will be bringing some over to participate in the two concerts scheduled for that day which are titled A.B.C.-Z + Tokyo Juniors Vs. Nakayama Yuma + Kansai Juniors. Well there's a little more before that but I'm feeling dead tired right now so I don't want to do a full translation but it more or less ends up translating to a 'East/West song battle, East/West Juniors gathering'.
I really wish I would be in Japan for this, especially considering how rare it is to have a group of Kansai Juniors perform in Tokyo. Hopefully there will be a fan who knows English that will go and give everyone a report for the concert.

Kanjani8 return to the Kyocera Dome for Countdown 2010-2011
It has been announced that Kanjani8 will again be holding their own Countdown concert in Osaka's Kyocera Dome this year for the Countdown 2010-2011. It will be at the tail end of their up coming national tour which begins at the end of October and will have them at the Tokyo Dome in early December.

From this news I'm honestly expecting to hear news about a new album from K8 for their national tour. They do have enough singles for one and it seems like Johnny's is aiming to have just about every debuted group to release an album this year.

SMAP give Shanghai another try, & Kis-My-Ft2 1st photo book
It was announced today that SMAP will be heading to Shanghai to perform at Shanghai Stadium on October 9th and 10th. This will be the group's first time holding a concert outside of Japan.
They were to have had their first overseas concert back in July at the Shanghai World Expo but it was canceled due to concerns about crowd control.
Tokyohive article. (English)
Also the Kis-My-Ft2 photo book has become available for pre-order already. At cdjapan they have it listed for an October 2010 release on the page for it but I noticed that if you save it for later or pre-order it they give it an October 12th release date. I would assume that is the tentative date for the release but until there is more official news given on the matter understand that the date can change.

Upcoming NEWS and Matchy tours
Johnny's net recently updated and they have information up about two tours for two of their acts.
The one I'm sure more people will be excited about is that NEWS will be having a two dome tour in September. They're only hitting up Osaka and Tokyo this time but after not touring together for so long I'm sure fans will be happy anyway, I know I am.
Now they only have to announce a new single to be released around the time of the concert and I'll be a perfectly content NEWS fan.
The other tour is for daisempai, Kondo Masahiko or Matchy, which is a national tour that will begin in September and end in December with dinner show performances in Osaka.

SMAP magazine and solo tour for Ueda
SMAP will be releasing a special one shot magazine on August 25th called Super-fashion & Music Assemble Photo-magazine. It will not only feature exclusives for the members of the group themselves but also of other celebrities the members will have conversations with.
Tokyo Graph article. (English)
Also Johnny's net has updates to confirm that Ueda Tatsuya will be having a solo tour beginning on the 4th of August and ending on October 3rd. The tour will be with the Junior band FiVe and the dates for the first few concerts do fall between concert dates for the World Tour leg of the summer KAT-TUN concert tour.
Then on just to mention something blog related I do have plans to get around to updating the look of this blog soon, as I have more time on my hands than I would like. So expect some little updates in the coming month as I update some things and add some others to make this blog a bit more useful for readers.

News roundup
Well the news keeps coming in so I've decided to collect the recent batch in this one entry.
First off Tegomass's tour has been extended as they will be returning to Yoyogi July 30th-August 1st for three more shows. More information can be found on Johnny's net.
A bit of a downer, SMAP's concert in Shanghai has been canceled. The Expo canceled the concert after safety and security concerns arouse when South Korea had a concert with popular acts from their country and the commotion it caused. The Expo feared the same would happen with the SMAP concert and opted to cancel the event.
Brietbart article. (English)
And then for some better news, the SP for NTV 24 Hour Television has been announced. Nagase Tomoya will be starring in the SP for his second time. He stars alongside Hirosue Ryoko as a couple that have to deal with a terminally ill daughter.
Tokyo Graph article. (English)
I'm a bit disappointed that it's not Masaoka Masahiro starring in the SP, especially since I would have loved to have seen him with Hirosue again after they were in Yasuko to Kenji together. But I can't complain about having Nagase in another drama as I tend to love him in whatever he's in.

News round up
Unfortunately my mother pulled something in her back and ended up bedridden for the majority of this week. I've been helping take care of her while juggling my usual school schedule which is getting more work heavy now that it's heading into finals in a few weeks. I will try to at least keep up with news for this blog for the month if nothing else.
First up, it was announced that the concert in Thailand for the KAT-TUN world tour have been canceled. This is of course because of the recent unrest in the nation which has in the past few days included bloodshed. There is no word if the concert will be made up for but the rest of the concerts on the world tour leg are still scheduled to go on as planned.
Tokyograph article. (English)
Higashiyama from Shounentai will be starring in a drama for the summer season. The title is still unknown but it is being billed as a 'mystery medical' drama and it will air on TBS. He will be joined by Ohkura from Kanjani8 who will also have a role in the drama.
Tokyograph article. (English)
Also for those interested there was an article released for the current Junior concerts being held at Theatre Crea. The article focuses on A.B.C.-Z as they are the first group to perform as well as the only ones to have full solo concerts.

SMAP annouces dome tour and new album
It looks like SMAP is going to make sure that they aren't leaving their Japanese fans out in the cold as not only will they be doing the concert at the Shanghai World Expo they are also going to do a dome tour in Japan starting on July 31st. They are slated to perform in 8 domes around Japan which if they all sell out, which they should do easily, will break the 10 million mark for audience attendance for all their concerts.
Also they announced that for this tour they will be releasing a new album titled it We are SMAP! and it will go on sale sometime in July.
Nikkan Sports article. (Japanese)
So it looks like July could be a big release month for Johnny's if Hey! Say! JUMP's upcoming album is released in the same month. Also this far into May it seems to be getting too late to announce anything for a June release so I think July is looking to be the month to look forward to for Johnny's releases.
