A couple of announcements about movie castings have come out recently.
First off Kusanagi Tsuyoshi will have a part in the upcoming Japanese movie Suteki na Kanashibari. It doesn't mention what role he has but as the main cast has been announced it probably won't be big.

Akanishi Jin is set to be in the Hollywood adaption of the 47 Ronin movie that will star Keanu Reeves. Jin will play the role of Oishi Chikara, which is one of the more prominent roles in the story.

I'm happy for Jin, as even if his music career doesn't go anywhere in the U.S. if he can get a good foot into movies he may still find success in the States after all. So I hope he does well and the movie as well as it could lead to bigger things for him.

Kusanagi in a new play and a couple of old faces resurface
First off a little bit of news. Kusanagi Tsuyoshi of SMAP will be starring in a two man play named K2 which will begin its run in November of this year. His co-star is Tsutsumi Shinichi.

And since I am a big fan of Yamashita Shoon I just have to mention this even if it isn't really connected to Johnny's. But Shoon and his younger brother Reon have both resurfaced and have their own official website with blog. It's called Flying Sheep Cafe and it seems that Reon has decided to use not only a different kanji for the first part of his given name but has chosen to romanize it with a 'L' instead of the 'R' that has been used before this. So I guess it's Shoon and Leon from here on out. I truly wish them the best success in their new endeavor.

Spring drama news 2010
I don't want to fall too far behind now that I'm almost caught up, especially since this is about the time the new dramas for the spring season are getting announced.
The first confirmed drama for a Johnny's this spring is for Arashi's Ohno Satoshi. He gets to lead again in a drama, this one being based off a popular manga Kaibutsu-kun from the 1960s. The story sounds like it wouldn't lend itself all too well to the drama format as it's the story of the prince of Monster Land that comes to the human world and has adventures with the monsters he finds living there. It's already been made into a couple of anime series so it should hopefully be interesting to see how they do this series for live action.

The special will be five episodes long as it follows generations of a Japanese-American family and will air on TBS. They will run the episodes across five days in a row, which will be a first for them to try to do.

The most recent drama announcement is for Kato Shigeaki, who will get a chance to be a lead in a drama for the first time. The drama he will be the lead in is called Troubleman and it will air on TV Tokyo. It's being directed by SABU, known for his cult movies, who will be directing a TV drama for the first time.

Arashi in drama special and Kusanagi in a movie
Catching up in news now that I have a little free time, there have a couple of announcements over the past couple of days.
The first is that all five members of Arashi will be in a drama special. An air date hasn't been given other than near the beginning of 2010 and it will air on Fuji TV. The title of the drama will be Saigo no Yakusoku which translates into English as, Last Promise.

The other announcement is for SMAP's Kusanagi Tsuyoshi, who will starring in an upcoming movie. His co-star is Takeuchi Yoko and the film is titled Boku to Tsuma no 1778 Monotagari, which simply translates to 1778 Stories of Me and My Wife.
The film is based off a true story about a sci-fi author who writes a short story everyday for his wife, who is dying from cancer, after taking a doctor's advice that laughter can help the immune system.
The movie is set to finish filming at the end of December and looks like it will be strongly promoted overseas as a Cannes showing has already been planned for it.
