In a way I am quite glad I could not go out and immediately pre-order Sexy Zone's album as I would probably have to cancel it. I am someone that likes to have music over other kinds of goodies and I would not have been happy with the track list with the regular version as it is different than the limited version.
If you look at the Pony Canyon web store they have the full track listing up for both versions (RE/LE) and while fifteen of the tracks are the same, though a bit of a different order, the final track on each version is a different song. On the LE you get Onegai, while on the RE you get Yuuki 100%. And since I have the version of Lady Diamond that has that song, not to mention the Nintama Rantaro CD that has their version on it, I have no desire to have this track on a CD I own for the third time. Especially not when I can have a new song instead. So it looks like I will have to save a little bit more so I can afford the LE.

I am happy to see all the live only group songs (IF YOU WANNA DANCE, GAME and Suki Sugite) are on the album. As well as Nakajima Kento and Kikuchi Fuma getting their solos, Teleportation and Rouge.
Kimi wo Hanasanai, Kimi wo Hanarenai is a solo for Sato Shori from reports from the SUMMARY concerts they did. I think that will be interesting to listen to as it is not easy to hear his voice in the group songs as it gets covered up by harmonies a lot.
I do not think Matsushima So or Yo Marius have a solo song or will get one for the album. I think the Don't Stop Sexy Boyz will be for the Sexy Boyz sub-unit and will be in place of solos for them. (And yes, I do not like the title of that track at all.) Not a bad move as things are still very uncertain for when they are going to start having their voices change. Plus they do not have much experience so perhaps with the next album they will be given solos.
Other than that I just hope the album tracks are on par with their B-sides, which are easily some of their best songs, IMHO.

Ai no Beat, I no Money
I know I could have just added this to the Sexy Zone album news but I think this deserves its own post, plus I do not want to go back and edit that post again.
But it looks like in November Johnny's wants people to be broke as there is going to be another release on November 14th, this time a new single from Kis-My-Ft2.
Type A is one of the limited editions. It will have the title track in both versions it comes in, the Dance and Rock versions. The DVD it comes with will have the music video for the Dance version and the making of for it.
Type B is the same as Type A except it will have the music video for the Rock version of the title track, and the making of for that.
Type C is the regular edition. It comes with both versions of the title track as well as a B-side not on the other versions, Winter Lover. Winter Lover is said to be the sequel to the B-side on their last single, Summer Lover.
With a release in November I think it will be safe to assume that Kisumai will have their next early Spring and then will be ready for their second album in the summer, which will probably be when they do their next concert tour.

Also the two store versions will have an external bonus of a Christmas card, one out of a set of six, one group and five individual member versions.
The regular edition will just have the usual trading card with it, though it seems that for the album they will at least put in an extra one so there will be two, with there being six cards in the full set, one of each members and a group one.
The limited edition will have a DVD that will feature an interview with the group about their 1st anniversary, as their debut single was released November 16th, 2011. Apparently it will be in Las Vegas (I remember hearing about them visiting NYC and Vegas not long ago so I guess they must have done it then). There will also be a 24 page photo book and special anniversary packaging.
There is a Lawson/HMV special edition as well which unfortunately only those with a Japanese address can get. It will have a DVD with footage from the jacket shooting as well as all the music videos for the singles on the album.
The last edition of the album is also for Japanese address holders only as it is a online shop edition that you have to purchase through Pony Canyon. It will just come with a 1st Anniversary Memorial Ticket Holder.

Beginners! mid-season impressions
So after getting through half the episodes of this series (honestly I began episode 5 but quit after only a minute in) I am dropping it. I will get into the reasons why in the review but this will be the end of my reviews for this drama.
If anything I fault the writing for how badly this drama came across. It relied so heavily on common tropes that the story just was not interesting. The characters rarely showed much beyond their descriptions and felt largely one dimensional with the main characters being the worst.
Shimura Teppei comes from a mold of male protagonists that while can be really good and successful at the same time can be complete failures depending on how well they are done. Teppei is definitely this character type done wrong and instead of being fun is annoying. His character is not one that can stand on his own outside of the plot, instead it is made to fit the plot. Because of this their is no character growth that can really be followed as he acts in whatever way needs to make the next plot point be reached.
For me characters should be what drives the plot, as if they are well rounded characters they should naturally be able to do so because of the kinds of actions they would do. This series does the opposite, especially with the main characters whose actions are dictated by the plot instead making them seem unnatural and unrelatable.
From what I saw of Kitayama Hiromitsu's character, Tachibana Danji, he did well enough. There was not much that I saw that had him do much but he played the aloof character well.
I do feel like I should have stuck with it a little longer to find out his story but I just was not that interested to sit through everything else to learn about it. It did make me wish he was the main character, or just about any character that was not Teppei or Momoe as I feel they would have lead to a more interesting series.
The romance in the series was a big let down. Probably because it all had Teppei involved and again I found myself apathetic to him. Since Momoe's character seemed to suffer from more or less the same thing as Teppei's I could care less what happened with her. And seeing that staying with the drama would mean I would have to watch the characters I cared for the least go through the usual tedious romantic tropes for dramas was a big factor for dropping it. Especially as they seem to work so much better as friends than lovers, but this drama does not seem to be original enough to want to break the main male character hooks up with the main female character because they happen to get the most screen time.
Honestly this drama is a mess, and unfortunately does not stray into "so bad it's funny" territory that would have been its only saving grace without having it completely revamped.
The actions of the head of the police academy made choices that baffled since the viewer was not given hints to why he was asking what he did when it came to members of S class or specifically Shimura Teppei. I was honestly finding myself wondering why he did not have a mustache to twirl or a short beard to stroke as he was a one dimensional as you could get. And if this was going to be the big bad of the series then you know you are trouble, as the villain is a vital part of what makes a hero.
Also for a series set around a police academy there was very little about it that really made it feel like a series that had to have that location or plot point be of much importance. It would not have been difficult to change the setting to an elite high school or university and have much that played out remain the same. And by the way some of the characters acted high school would have been the better setting for this.

The Shounen Club 4 July 2004 review
After the video issues with the past two episodes I am happy to see that this episode is just fine. Which is good as this looks to be a time of a lot of rearranging of Juniors and formation of new groups.
With this introduction we get a few line up changes with the newer groups and one of the older ones. The one older group is Ya-Ya-Yah that for this episode is introduced as a seven member group, with Matsumoto Kohei being added in.
Kis-My-Ft. has lost their younger members but from the introduction they could still be a six member group as two other Juniors dance with the older four in the front. But since the older four are the only ones seen performing later on I will say that they probably have just dropped down to being a quartet now.
While J.J. Express has kinda lost Matsumoto they are still a quartet with a new member added onto the group. Also while they do not get a name tag the other group of four little Juniors here with JJE are introduced as A.B.C. Jr. I have been able to make out that Senga Kento is a part of this group and I think Nikaido Takashi is as well, but no sign of any other of the younger Kis-My-Ft2 members in the group yet.
With that over KAT-TUN, Jimmy Mackey and Inoo Kei talk a bit on the stage about summer to try to get around to the theme of the episode, tokimeki (which is heart beating quickly in usually a romantic context).
The first medley is a Tokimeki Medley and of course is lead by KAT-TUN. Thankfully other Juniors get to participate in it. Like Kis-My-Ft. but as a quartet which helps back the fact that is their current line up.
While Taguchi Junnosuke does not perform with his group for this medley he does perform, with of course a song that requires no dance moves. he gets paired up with Jimmy Mackey and a member of FiVE that I am just feeling too lazy to look up the name of, especially seeing as he is no longer with the agency anyway.
During this medley we get to see the Junior band playing listed and it is no longer FiVE. Instead we have Question? for this episode. Of course they may have been there for a couple of episodes and I would have not noticed as the band so rarely gets featured on the show.
Yaotome Hikaru gets to do a J-Dairy segment where he talks about trying to win a goldfish at a summer festival.
This episode gives us a KAT-TUN medley, which I guess the main difference between this and the usual medleys is KAT-TUN singing their own songs.
The game for this episode is Attate Pon! with Imai Tsubasa being the special guest for it and the episode.
For the panel who have to guess which fact is true we get some new faces to the segment, which is nice, especially as there is only one KAT-TUN member this time.
Tsubasa gets to do a medley himself as the guest of the show. I still fail to become a fan of his even though he has a nice dramatic flair in this medley which does make it interesting.
We get a performance from JJE in the middle of this with Yabu Kota being added to the group for it. This makes things quite confusing about which members are meant to be in which group, with Matsumoto and Inoo Kei having those matching outfits and all. But I imagine this will be cleared up in the next episode or so.
I am so glad this file is good or I would have probably missed this Junior, as it was hard to tell who he was in the introduction. Arioka Daiki is now present and accounted for, and as a member of J.J. Express going to be easy to keep track of.
Ikuta Toma returns via VTR for another Toma Scoop segment. This time he gets to talk to all the members of V6. Probably the most interesting topic they talked about was the fact that V6 used to host the Junior that Shounen Club replaced, Music Jump, so they used to have regular interactions with the Juniors from that program.
Ueda Tatsuya reads a letter from an Akanishi Jin fan that asks about what food must someone have to be able to cook to be his girlfriend. And we learn that it is pasta. I wonder if Kuroki Meisa knows how to cook pasta...
A.B.C. get their own medley to perform, and have inherited one of the outfits that KAT-TUN used to wear. I could not help but notice that Kis-My-Ft. was back dancing for them, which just felt weird watching.
We have a segment of O-Nakamaru where he and Ueda Tatsuya have to try to get the audience to decide what is the better romantic location for the summer, the ocean or the mountains. They both try to convince the audience of the appeal of each, Nakamaru Yuichi for the beach and Ueda for the mountains, by acting out a romantic scene by themselves.
KAT-TUN sing a cover of SMAP's song Celery which they also have some of the little Juniors come join in on. We also get to see a couple of the members of Question? like Fujiie Kazuyori here.
Since this is another light dance song Junno is present for this one. And it is really nice to see him back with the group. Hopefully by the next filming he is recovered enough to perform with them for all the songs.
It is just KAT-TUN and the little Juniors from the previous song that sing the outro song for this episode while the other Juniors back dance for them.
So happy to see Arioka on the show finally. As well as Question?, though I guess it will still be a while before they get to do something more than be a backing band for the other Juniors.

AKS Master Post 005
All the announcements for NMB48's anniversary have been made so I figured it would be a good time to make one of these posts, especially as we do get a new team.

| The New Team M |
Before we get to the new team a quick look at the changes with Team M. And thankfully the changes are nothing as great as fans were speculating. They just announced the three KKS that will join the team to fill the empty spots left with the three recent graduations from the team. The KKS graduating are the remaining 1st gen KKS, Koyanagi Arisa and two of the 2nd gen KKS, Azuma Yuki and Yamamoto Hitomi.
I hope that with things settled down for the group now they can figure out how to promote this group so it is not left in the shadow of Team N. I think Yagura Fuuko is getting set up to be the new Ace of the team as she has had pushes in the past and will be the center of the new sub-unit in the upcoming single. So I wish her the best of luck and hope that more Team M members find a way to get noticed.
I am really happy to see that there are no more 1st gen KKS now, especially with the new Team BII it would have seemed too sad if the last girl of that generation was not promoted to be on a team. It is interesting though that this means Team N is 1st gen only, Team M is 1st gen and 2nd gen and Team BII being 3rd gen girls. I wonder if next year they will do a team shuffle, as with AKB48 dropping their Team 4 I doubt the other groups will be creating any of their own.
Moving on to more exciting news, the formation of Team BII. I think it surprises no one that Yabushita Shu and Kato Yuuka are on this team. Both girls have been in the senbatsu roster for both the last single and this upcoming one so management clearly want to push them. Especially Shu who gets more pushing than Uuka (can't believe this is her official nickname).

There is some new news about the new single Kitagawa Kenji. First we have the short version of the PV, which looks like it will be a fun one. It also looks like they are making this single to be the opposite of AKB48's UZA with using a cuter sounding song and a bright and colorful PV.
Also we have a sub-unit for this single. It is actually a continuation of the last sub-unit, Namba Teppoutai Sono Ichi, as it is called Namba Teppoutai Sono Ni. Kotani Riho is no longer in the group, as she had her big break with becoming a co-AKB48 member, and the center position has been given to Yagura Fuuko (Team M). The other members of the unit this time are; Kato Yuuka (Team BII), Kushiro Rina (Team BII), Matsuda Shiori (Team N), Yabushita Shu (Team BII), Yamagishi Natsumi (Team M), Yamamoto Hitomi (Team M) and Yogi Keira (Team M).
I rather like the idea of this group, one that has all the girls that the agency wants to give a push to so they can become popular. And having it be mostly Team M and Team BII is nice, especially as it is a much smaller group than the Akagumi and Shirogumi subunits so the girls in this group have a chance to get decent screen time. To speak a bit on the recent graduations with Team M, I think it really should not have been surprising. Shortly before Team M was created we had a few girls decide to leave so I think when something like a team formation looms it probably forces the girls to really look at their idol careers. With a new team it means more competition for the top spots in the group and makes it easier to get lost in the background of a group.
For Fujita Runa I think she must have felt that with her injury continuing her idol work would have been difficult and it would be a good time for her to bow out with a change to the group coming.
For Ota Riona I would not be surprised if she figured that she may be better following her dreams through a different course. She had previous experience in the entertainment industry before going NMB48 and I can understand if she felt frustrated that she was getting little promotion and that soon there would another sixteen girls she would have to compete with, with one of them being an AKB48 members as well.

Sexy Zone - Sexy Summer ni Yuki ga Furu PV review
Well this single is out, and had a rather lackluster first week of sales by not even managing to break 100k in sales for the first week. I cannot say I am surprised as this single did not have as many tie-ins as the previous one and the title song has to be their weakest A-side yet. I hope Johnny's has a plan to get this boys promoted more or I do not see them doing much better with their next single.
I do not think there is anything that is going to change my mind about this song. I have listened to it several times over and still think it sounds like B-side material. There really is nothing about it that sticks with you after listening like Lady Diamond, and musically it sounds like a mess. And it does nothing to show off the vocals of the members even though Nakajima Kento and Kikuchi Fuma have voices that are strong enough for more challenging songs. Overall I find this song a let down and the B-sides of this single are what saves it from seeming like a complete waste.
I guess we should get used to all Sexy Zone PVs starting off with a solo shot of Sato Shori. Johnny's really seems to want to make him being the Ace of the group work no matter what.
We then get a group shot to see all the Christmas themed outfits. I still do not like seeing a Christmas themed single being released so early. Sure they also bring up the other seasons and all but Christmas is still the main theme and until winter hits I do not want to see it.
We get a quick look at the main sets of the PV which showcase one of the four seasons, winter, spring, summer and fall. As well as the group of Juniors that will be featured in the PV.
Nakaken then gets the first of his solo lines in. I do like they are continuing with letting Nakaken and Kikuchi vocally carry the songs of the group. I feel the two have been improving steadily since debut and they both have nice vocal tones to their voices which makes them nice to listen to.
Kikuchi gets his turn at solo lines as well as we move to the fall set that apparently has a runway as its main feature. Perhaps because I do not follow the world of fashion but I would not think a runway had much of a specific fall feeling to it.
While I am not a fan of the winter outfits the summer outfits in this PV have to be the worst. They look like something Johnny's would force the Juniors to wear. In fact I will be disappointed that years from now there are not Juniors wearing them.
There are plenty of scenes to see the Juniors in for this PV. I am still not familiar with most of them but a there a few I am getting to know finally and I am glad to see them getting extra exposure by being in the SZ PVs.
Nakaken gets to show off his piano playing skills with this PV. I feel like this song does not deserve it, but hopefully this will not be the last time Nakaken gets to play piano in a PV for the group.
And we get pure cuteness from Yo Marius and Matsushima So. Seriously, it is like watching a group of puppies or kitties and could give you cavities.
Then we get cute with the summer set with the dance forgotten for just the group and the Juniors jumping around. Kikuchi tries to give one of the smaller Juniors more screen time by lifting him up.
There is even more cuteness with the boys goofing off with the over-sized apple prop. Matsushima looks more like he is biting into Kikuchi's shoulder instead.
Going to have Matsushima shown in his quick solo shot as I feel like he gets overlooked a lot. Rather sad as he seems to be one of the better vocals for the younger members. Though he also has to go through his voice changing so hopefully nature will be kind to him on that front.
I am not really impressed with the dance for this song. There is really nothing about it that stands out and it looks rather simple.
Then we get a group shot as each members says a line. After this is another group shot then the end of the PV. And I do not like how they make the white so gleaming. I think it is an eyesore, not to mention it washes out the color in the boys' faces to an unnatural degree.
I really do not want to repeat myself too much but I really do not care much for this song or the the PV. Sure there are a few moments that I did like but it was mostly boring for me. It seems disappointing that this is bound to be the final release for the group this year and we probably will not get anything new until spring of next year if they follow the typical release pattern of the most recent FIVB groups. I hope we do get something sooner but I will not be holding my breath.
I have nothing really against Shori, but I do wish Johnny's would stop pushing him so hard. I think he has potential but until he starts living up to that potential he is going to remain overshadowed by the older members that are hitting their stride as performers. Give him a year or two more to grow a bit more and get more experience under his belt before pushing him as they have been. Nakaken and Kikuchi are both more than ready to be the ones to carry the group for now.

I really do not want to repeat myself too much but I really do not care much for this song or the the PV. Sure there are a few moments that I did like but it was mostly boring for me.
